CONTEST: Pick Your Favorite Heinous Bible Verse
Win A Prize! Tell us what you think is the most heinous verse in the Bible!
heinous |ˈhānəs|
adjective
(of a person or wrongful act, esp. a crime) utterly odious or wicked : a battery of heinous crimes.
You know there are some real corkers in there between Genesis and Revelation. Lately I've been enjoying (and quoting) Malachi 2:3—"Behold, I will corrupt your seed and spread dung upon your faces." I just love that one.
What about you? Do you have a favorite "bad" Bible verse? A verse so disgusting, evil or ironic that you want to share it with the world? Here's your chance to do so. Give us your the Bible verse you love to hate. Tell us (briefly) why it's so heinous. Be clever. Be creative. Get it done by next Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 5:00PM EDT.
PRIZES! PRIZES! PRIZES!
The best entry will win a real prize. Seriously. The most creative respondent gets her/his choice of a box of Messiah Mints, Atone-Mints or Sin-O-Mints, free for nothing. So crack those Bibles, and let's see some creativity.

This whole thing is free and just for fun. The Fool will not use your email address for any other purpose. The decision of the judges is final and probably wrong. In case of more than one winner (hey, in could happen), duplicate prizes will be awarded. Or not. The Fool reserves the right to alter or terminate this contest at any time for any damn reason or none at all. So there. All entries become property of A Perfect Fool. One entry per IP address per contest. Void where prohibited, restricted, or taxed.

My fave:
Deu 28:63 And as the LORD took delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the LORD will take delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you. And you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

Hosea 13:16
The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."
Biblical abortion and childslaying. Nothing says loving ruler than "EAT UR BAYBEEZ!"
Btw? FIRST!

Luke 23:34: "Jesus [being crucified] said, "Forgive them, father! They don't know what they are doing."
Truly shocking!

1) Murder, rape, and pillage at Jabesh-gilead (Judges 21:10-24 NLT)
So they sent twelve thousand warriors to Jabesh-gilead with orders to kill everyone there, including women and children. "This is what you are to do," they said. "Completely destroy all the males and every woman who is not a virgin." Among the residents of Jabesh-gilead they found four hundred young virgins who had never slept with a man, and they brought them to the camp at Shiloh in the land of Canaan.
The Israelite assembly sent a peace delegation to the little remnant of Benjamin who were living at the rock of Rimmon. Then the men of Benjamin returned to their homes, and the four hundred women of Jabesh-gilead who were spared were given to them as wives. But there were not enough women for all of them. The people felt sorry for Benjamin because the LORD had left this gap in the tribes of Israel. So the Israelite leaders asked, "How can we find wives for the few who remain, since all the women of the tribe of Benjamin are dead? There must be heirs for the survivors so that an entire tribe of Israel will not be lost forever. But we cannot give them our own daughters in marriage because we have sworn with a solemn oath that anyone who does this will fall under God's curse."
Then they thought of the annual festival of the LORD held in Shiloh, between Lebonah and Bethel, along the east side of the road that goes from Bethel to Shechem. They told the men of Benjamin who still needed wives, "Go and hide in the vineyards. When the women of Shiloh come out for their dances, rush out from the vineyards, and each of you can take one of them home to be your wife! And when their fathers and brothers come to us in protest, we will tell them, 'Please be understanding. Let them have your daughters, for we didn't find enough wives for them when we destroyed Jabesh-gilead. And you are not guilty of breaking the vow since you did not give your daughters in marriage to them.'" So the men of Benjamin did as they were told. They kidnapped the women who took part in the celebration and carried them off to the land of their own inheritance. Then they rebuilt their towns and lived in them. So the assembly of Israel departed by tribes and families, and they returned to their own homes.
Obviously these women were repeatedly raped. These sick bastards killed and raped an entire town and then wanted more virgins, so they hid beside the road to kidnap and rape some more. How can anyone see this as anything but evil?
Evil is God's middle name in this one.

Hoping this is the proper place to submit an entry (as the contest doesn't specify how to enter....
"I have wiped out many nations, devastating their fortress walls and towers. Their cities are now deserted; their streets are in silent ruin. There are no survivors to even tell what happened. I thought, 'Surely they will have reverence for me now! Surely they will listen to my warnings, so I won't need to strike again.' But no; however much I punish them, they continue their evil practices from dawn till dusk and dusk till dawn." -Zephaniah 3:6
God killed people, completely wiped them out without any one left to know what had happened, and then expected others to know. Not only is the violence awful, but he's also a bit twisted to expect others to know what had happened.

mmm it's a toss-up. I'd have to say this one.
Job 1: 12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
nothing like being party to murder and destruction on a *bet* with your supposed worst enemy.

Seriously, all of Deuteronomy 28 is classic.

2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy [a] everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' "
I Samuel 15 verse 3.
Well this verse has to come close to being the ultimate heinous verse. Lets see, we have genocide and cruelty to animals. If god were a man he put on trial in Hague for crimes against humanity and prosecuted by animals rights charities and prevented from ever keeping pets again.

2 Kings 2:23-24 (New American Standard Bible)
23Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!"
24When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.
It just seems like overkill.

An interesting post explaining the meaning in a clear manner.
